About
Clear communication moves people. Strategic communication moves systems.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in communications, outreach, and advancement for mission-driven organizations navigating complex challenges from marine conservation and fisheries advocacy to community development and environmental policy.
Over time, I came to understand that the greatest barrier to progress is rarely a lack of good ideas. More often, it’s a gap between vision and execution: leadership holds a strategy in mind, but communication breaks down.
I’ve seen firsthand how transformative it can be when teams regain alignment, clarity, and trust in the process.
A Maritime Perspective
My work is grounded in coastal communities. Deep Current exists for organizations with ambitious missions and complex stories to tell.
With more than fifteen years of working alongside fishing families — like my own — in the maritime industry, and a Master of Marine Affairs from the University of Washington, I bring both lived experience and academic training to the challenges facing working waterfronts and coastal economies. That perspective allows me to situate communications strategies in ways that resonate locally while also reaching regional, national, and international audiences.
Whether working with village corporations, fisheries organizations, environmental nonprofits, or coastal initiatives, I approach communication as both a cultural practice and a strategic tool.
This work requires more than messaging. My role is to listen carefully, identify the underlying challenge, and translate your ideas into tangible tools — strategic roadmaps, campaign frameworks, visualizations, and communication systems — that help your work gain traction.
